SRINAGAR, 9 Nov. 2024: In a determined effort to ensure public health and food safety, the Food Safety Department, under the Drug and Food Control Organization, carried out an unannounced milk quality inspection across multiple zones in Srinagar city.

The operation, led by Food Safety Officers from Zone I, Zone II, and Zone IV, focused on inspecting the quality of loose milk distributed within the city. As part of this initiative, 28 legal samples of loose milk were collected and sent for thorough analytical testing to verify compliance with established food safety standards.

The department has emphasized that this action is part of an intensified series of inspections aimed at curbing the distribution of adulterated or contaminated milk, ensuring that only safe and quality milk reaches consumers. “Today’s drive highlights our unwavering commitment to public health and food safety in Srinagar. We will continue to monitor milk quality rigorously and take stringent action against violators,” a spokesperson for the Food Safety Department said.

The Department has further announced that similar drives will continue in the coming days as part of a broader effort to foster a safe food environment and protect consumers from potential health risks associated with adulterated milk products.
