Bandipora, : Gurez Valley witnessed a significant development with the inauguration of the “Kaustubh” Solar Micro Grid project at Refugee Village 1 and 2, located just a kilometer from the Line of Control. This project, named in honor of Major Kaustubh Rane, SM, who lost his life during a 2018 operation with the 36 Rashtriya Rifles, aims to provide a dependable and sustainable electricity source to these remote villages.

The Aseem Foundation, which led the initiative, is dedicated to both memorializing Major Rane’s sacrifice and addressing the urgent need for reliable power in these isolated communities. The newly installed 4kW Solar Micro Grid will serve Refugee 1, home to 121 residents, and Refugee 2, with a population of 86. This development is expected to transform daily life by offering consistent electricity for lighting, heating, and other critical needs, which were previously sporadic or nonexistent.

The inauguration ceremony brought together a diverse group of attendees, including Mr. Sarang Gosavi, President of Aseem Foundation, and fifteen foundation members. The event was also graced by the parents of Major Kaustubh Rane, SM, alongside fifty students and one hundred ten local civilians, all of whom celebrated this milestone.

The addition of this solar micro grid represents a significant step forward in improving the quality of life for the residents of these strategically important villages, highlighting both the humanitarian and strategic value of such projects in challenging terrains.
